TRADITIONAL OR NOT

You’re sitting down planning your wedding and thinking of the details for that great day. All of sudden, you ask for help and along comes the Calvary, from your mother to your mother in law. They know all about weddings because they have been through it. Next thing you know, you’re planning the typical traditional wedding.

Don’t get me wrong, planning the traditional wedding is an awesome thing, but your guest might remember this as just another wedding. If you want your guest to remember your wedding day, you might want to think about going somewhat non-traditional. What I mean is doing something that is different, but will also flow with the rest of your wedding. That can be as easy as picking non-traditional music for your wedding.

Your Dj is a great resource to help you out with this area. Of course depending where your ceremony is at, you might not have a choice to be different be you can be different in other areas of your wedding day. When your wedding is different, people tend to remember that wedding more then other weddings they have been to.

In a traditional wedding you hear “Canon in D” as the bridal party march and the “Wedding march” for the Bride marching in. After the ceremony, you hear “Mendelssohn” when the Bride and Groom march out.

I performed at a wedding where the bridal party march was “I can’t help Falling in love with you” and the march for the Bride was “Grow old with me”. Another wedding the Bride and Groom marched out to the chorus of a song, “It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine” these ceremonies where different and guest loved it.

In other weddings, people have used non-traditional decorations at the reception area for example having a theme like Mardi- Gras or Casino theme. Another wedding had a beautiful wedding cake but when the cake was served the kids where given cupcakes and ice cream.

Be different, by doing events in your reception in a different order. The only thing is to make sure you coordinate this with your Wedding Coordinator and the Banquet Manager ahead of time. Anything will work as long as it is planned and coordinated, because then it all flow together.

You want your entire guest to remember your wedding day for years to come, so do something different. If a reception has something different, people seem to remember this longer than the typical wedding, they have been to. Remember this is going to be your wedding day, so do what you really want for that day. Also be sure to use an ADJA Disc Jockey to ensure that day will be flawless. Congratulations, and hopefully we will see you at your wedding reception and remember have fun, it’s the first day of the rest of your life.
